Ambleside Waco is currently hiring a Full-Time Classroom Teacher for the 2025-26 school year. This position oversees a classroom of up to 12 students in 5th/6th grades and teaches all subjects.

 

Ambleside teachers have an active, personal faith in Jesus Christ along with a desire to live out their faith as shepherds in the classroom. They love books: classic stories, fairy tales, myths and legends, history, natural science, anything well written with good ideas. They appreciate nature, art, music and many other subjects and want to introduce their love of these things to their students. They are lifelong learners of the good, true, and beautiful.

 

Ambleside Waco teachers desire to have a discipling relationship with approximately 12 boys and girls in a peaceful and collegial classroom atmosphere, cultivating in them habits of mind, body, and spirit such as attention, respect, courtesy, honesty, thoroughness, accuracy, clear thought, kindness, and punctuality, among others. They actively shepherd their students into closer relationship to God, themselves, others, the world of ideas, the concept of work, and the creation. They are comfortable within a "living books" curriculum which uses few textbooks and requires teachers to master and teach their subjects according to the Ambleside method, a five-point approach to instruction that has stood the test of time for over one hundred years. Recognizing that Ambleside Schools exist for the purpose of implementing the Ambleside method rooted in the educational philosophy of Charlotte Mason, Ambleside teachers willingly submit to participation in the mastering of the Ambleside method in their individual classrooms and throughout the school at large. They eagerly seek to increase their own knowledge by reading, discussing, and an ongoing participation in a training relationship with their peers both locally at Ambleside Waco and globally through Ambleside Schools International, so that they would in time become master teachers with Ambleside.
