Description
Ambleside teachers have an active, personal faith in Jesus Christ along with a desire to live out their faith by investing in young children and families through education. They are lifelong learners. They love books: classic stories, fairy tales, myths and legends, history, natural science, anything well written with good ideas. They love nature, art and music and many other subjects and want to introduce these things to their students.
They are able to lead young people with peaceful authority and respect, insight and courage, love and inspiration. They are committed to Jesus’ principles of relationship with God and others through practice and prayer.
Besides the core subjects of Bible, math, literature, history and science, teachers at Ambleside instruct in many other areas of study, 12-16 subjects a week, in addition to cultivating the habits of attention, courtesy, honesty, thoroughness, accuracy, punctuality and many more.
They are comfortable with a curriculum which uses few textbooks and requires teachers to master and teach their subjects without the usual educational aids and lesson guides. Recognizing that Ambleside school exists for the purpose of implementing the method of Charlotte Mason, Ambleside teachers willingly submit to Charlotte Mason’s philosophy and become her students. They eagerly seek to increase their own knowledge by reading, discussing and attending educational internships so that they might become better teachers.
If you have a love and loyalty to Jesus Christ and share His heart for children, if you delight in learning, reading, and studying, and if you are developing a passion for Charlotte Mason’s philosophy, we invite you to apply!
