“The mother is qualified,” says Pestalozzi, “and qualified by the Creator Himself, to become the principal agent in the development of her child; … and what is demanded of her is—a thinking love … God has given to thy child all the faculties of our nature, but the grand point remains undecided—how shall this heart, this head, these hands, be employed? To whose service shall they be dedicated? A question the answer to which involves a futurity of happiness or misery to a life so dear to thee. Maternal love is the first agent in education.”

The Ambleside Homeschooling Mentor Program enables home educators to educate their children upon a comprehensive philosophy-based education and pedagogy based on the tried-and-true principles of Charlotte Mason in her six volumes on education. This format offers a unique combination of structure and accountability for the homeschooling family.

Families benefit from the expertise and experience of Ambleside Schools International’s educational endeavors in both homes and schools. Ambleside Homeschool Mentors have experience in teaching and training through Ambleside Schools International.

Mentors support families through a myriad of ways, such as answering questions about planning and preparing for the homeschool week/year, setting up the homeschool classroom, lesson planning, scheduling and pacing, curriculum and resources, ordering of books and materials and any and all other questions which come to mind.

The curriculum is complete in each area of study; there is no need for additional outside resources.

In addition to the weekly support calls, mentors host monthly conference calls for inspiration and formation with other Ambleside Homeschoolers.

Home Educators who plan to register for the Ambleside Three-Day Internship and Summer Institute may apply to the Ambleside Homeschooling Mentor Program. The Mentor Program is available to parents educating children in grades K – 8.
